On Thursday, March 11, 2021, 35,000 viewers tuned in to WRAL-TV to celebrate the arts. With the help of 600 corporate sponsors and individual donors, Big Night In for the Arts raised more than $350,000 for arts initiatives across the Triangle!
Big Night In for the Arts returns Thursday, March 10, 2022, and it will be broadcast and live-streamed on WRAL.
The event will feature performances from local and national talent, address the impact of COVID-19 on the arts, and highlight the missions of the four organizations that lead and support the Triangle’s arts infrastructure. Funds raised will help local nonprofit arts and cultural organizations continue on a path of recovery and reentry post-pandemic.
Residence Inn Raleigh Downtown is proud to be a sponsor of Big Night In for the second year in a row! Our own Director of Operations, Rachael Pair, sits on the board for Big Night In and loves having this opportunity to support the arts and get the community involved.
Big Night In is Looking for Sponsors
“Now more than ever, you want to be associated with human connection. With the importance of seeing one another. With music, with forward motion, with light. Because it still feels like all the news is bad news, and people are exhausted. The arts remind us of our shared humanity. The arts are the mirror, and the arts are the balm for the human condition. Art makes it possible for your kids to paint their stories, for your spouse to turn up the music in the car to drown out the rage, for your mother to sit in the audience and feel less alone. There is hope to be found here.”
The funds raised from Big Night In are used to pay artists, pay for art supplies, and pay for the spaces and the structures that make the arts possible. They are also helping to rebuild industries most people don’t even think of as arts industries.
